Health and Medical
Just a notch above the start of the road going to the Upper Campus is the University Health Service (UHS), a secondary-level hospital dedicated to providing health and medical service to university constituents.
Hospital services at the UHS include the following: Admissions, out-patient department consultations, dispensary, emergency, work-related emergencies, minor operation, immunization, medico-legal, medical exams, dental cases, ambulance, referrals, laboratory, x-ray tests, ultrasound and electrocardiogram. Hospital doctors and staff can also perform cesarean section delivery, normal spontaneous delivery, dilation and curettage, minor surgery, medium surgery, and even major surgery.
Nominal rates are given to students, faculty and staff and they also benefit from various programs such as annual medical examinations, health clinics and support programs, and others for ensuring a healthy and productive lifestyle. We have an ongoing UPLB QuitsS Program to encourage smokers to stop smoking and become nicotine-free.
Our health service personnel can be counted on. They are professional, reliable and they work with integrity and dedication. We are continually empowering them to work towards increased excellence, transparency and accountability.
Adding to this, we have more than 50 professional doctors who serve as consultants (periodic or on-call) and provide specialist diagnosis and treatment for various medical cases.
The campus health service is accredited by the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation, which provides subsidies for hospital room and board fees, drugs and medicines, x-ray and other laboratory exams, operating room and professional fees for confinements of not less than 24 hours.
There are also two tertiary-level hospitals near the campus: The Los Baños Doctors Hospital and Medical Center, and the Healthserv Los Baños Medical Center. These hospitals carry most HMO cards and can accept credit card transactions for medical fees payments.
