50 UPLB grads are now licensed environmental planners

Fifty out of 61 examinees from UPLB passed the June 2017 Environmental Planner Licensure Examination given by the Professional Regulation Commission, giving UPLB a passing rate of 81.97%.

The national passing rate is 42.50%, with 739 passers out of 1,739 examinees nationwide.

Republic Act 10587 (Environmental Planning Act of 2013) identifies graduates of various disciplines, including but not limited to environmental planning, environmental science, ecology, economics, engineering, and sociology as eligible to take the licensure exam, provided that they satisfy the other requirements.

In UPLB, environmental planning examinees are usually graduates in BS Human Ecology with major in human settlements planning or have taken either MS or Ph.D. Environmental Science. (Mark Jayson E. Gloria, with reports from www.prc.gov.ph)
