3rd int’l coop conference to be held on Nov. 15-16

The UPLB Institute of Cooperatives and Bio-Enterprise Development (ICOPED) will hold the 3rd International Conference on Cooperatives (ICOOP 2018) on Nov. 15-16, 2018 at the Development Academy of the Philippines Conference Center, Tagaytay City.

With the theme “Cooperative transformation in the changing global economy,” ICOOP 2018 aims to promote exchange of technical and practical knowledge and facilitate interactions among cooperators, cooperative advocates, development practitioners, academicians, researchers, and policymakers.

It will highlight cooperatives’ responses to the changing economies driven by globalization, structural transformation, market and business innovation, institutional reforms, and climate change.

ICOOP2018 will also initiate development of resolution towards strengthening the cooperative movement and building opportunities as a sustainable sector.

The Conference will have plenary discussions and oral presentations covering the following areas: cooperative efforts in promoting decent work and full employment; rural financial risks in the context of cooperatives, future of cooperative statistics; and issues and prospects on value chain financing in the cooperatives.

All paper presentations will be compiled in a book of abstracts.

More than 40 participants from the Philippines, Indonesia, Vietnam, and Nepal will be presenting their studies. An enterprise product exhibit and demonstration of different cooperatives will also be showcased during the event.

Leading ICOOP 2018 are its conference chairs, namely: Dr. Isabelita M. Pabuayon, dean of the College of Economics and Management; and Dr. Salvador P. Catelo, director of ICOPED.
