2024 sees 2,024 undergraduate degree holders from UPLB

A total of 2,024 undergraduate students will be conferred their degrees at the 52nd Commencement Exercises of UPLB on August 3, 2024 at the E.B. Copeland Gymnasium. 

Dr. J. Prospero “Popoy” de Vera III, chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education, will be the keynote speaker during the occasion.

A respected academic and public servant, Chairman de Vera significantly contributed to the advancement of higher education in the country.

As CHED chairperson, he led in the implementation of the Universal Access to Quality Tertiary Education Act, a landmark legislation that opened the doors to higher learning for countless Filipino students by providing free tuition and other school fees in state universities and colleges.

Xheanttle Plata Mirasol, BS Nutrition, summa cum laude, is the 2024 class valedictorian. She will be delivering a speech on behalf of the graduating class. 

Mirasol, who has demonstrated exceptional academic performance and leadership, will share her insights and experiences on her “Road to Sablay,” representing the voice and aspirations of her fellow graduates.

The UPLB Ugnayan ng Pahinungod will award service pins to 63 graduating volunteers, while the Outstanding Student Leadership Award will be awarded to Jean Laurence Sicat Reyes of the College of Forestry and Natural Resources.

Of the graduating class, 2,024 will be receiving their associate and bachelor’s degrees, 221 their master’s degrees, and 70 their doctoral degrees. (Juan Paolo A. Aquino)
