BS ABT, FST, and Econ are now AUN-QA certified
Three more UPLB undergraduate programs have received certification under the ASEAN University Network Quality Assurance (AUN-QA).
These are BS Agricultural Biotechnology (ABT), BS Food Science and Technology (FST) of the College of Agriculture and Food Science (CAFS), and BS Economics of the College of Economics and Management (CEM).
The assessment process for the three programs was conducted online and through remote means on Nov. 21-25 during the 204th AUN-QA Programme Assessment.
The AUN-QA Team was composed of Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chin of Vietnam National University (VNU) and Dr. Karanrat Soonthornpun of Prince of Songkia University, Thailand for BS ABT; Dr. Le Quang Minh of VNU and Dr. Thanongsack Duangdala of the National University of Laos for BS FST; and Fr. Ornsiri Cheunsuang of Chulalongkorn University, Thailand and Dr. Prastawa Budi of Universitas Hasanuddin, Indonesia for BS Econ.
Dr. Nguyen Quoc Chin and Dr. Le Quang Minh served as the lead assessors, and Dr. Ornsiri Cheunsang was the chief assessor.
These programs are in addition to seven degree programs of UPLB that have secured AUN-QA-certification: BS Agriculture, BS Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering (BSABE), BS Chemical Engineering (BSChE), BS Development Communication, BS Biology, BS Forestry, and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine.
BS Nutrition will be the next degree program to undergo the certification process for the first time, while BS Biology and BS Forestry will undergo the renewal process for their AUN-QA certification.
Meanwhile, the BSABE and BSChE degree programs are going to undergo the certification process under the Washington Accord. The Washington Accord is a multi-lateral agreement among bodies responsible for the accreditation of tertiary-level engineering degree programs in the countries where the bodies operate.
Accreditation puts UPLB graduates on par with their ASEAN counterparts and enhances their global competitiveness.
