CJCJ is U of Nueva Caceres grad school convocation speaker

“Now that you will be bestowed upon with your graduate degrees, know that you are earning both the power and the responsibility to make the future – your future and your community’s future – even better.”

Thus, said Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr. before the 104 graduates of master’s and doctorate programs of the University of Nueva Caceres (UNC) in Naga City.

Chancellor Camacho served as the convocation speaker during the Special Academic Convocation of UNC School of Graduate Studies (SGS) on June 25 for its graduates in the years 2020, 2021, and 2022.

In his convocation speech, Chancellor Camacho affirmed that as holders of advanced degrees, the UNC-SGS graduates “can create their future” and that “the future needs them.”

“With your hard-earned graduate degrees, you have the power to create an even brighter future for yourselves and your family,” said Chancellor Camacho, who was dean of the UPLB Graduate School for nearly nine years prior to becoming the University’s chief executive.

He followed this affirmation with a call to action for the graduates to contribute to society, their communities, and their respective organizations.

“I wish for you to ponder on your power to contribute to the future of our society, because as individuals who possess higher level of knowledge and skills, the future needs you,” Chancellor Camacho said.

The UNC-SGS graduates earned their PhD Behavioral Management; Doctor of Education; Master of Arts in Education, Teaching, English, and Filipino; Master in Library and Information Science; Master in Business Administration; Master in Public Administration; and Master of Science in Environmental Science.

Chancellor Camacho referred to the UNC-SGS graduates as leaders and future leaders of their respective organizations and agencies who can advocate for innovative leadership, evidence-based policy-making, and digital transformation.

“You are trained to become leaders who can think scientifically to adapt to our changing environment and society,” he noted.

Joining Chancellor Camacho, the faculty, and the graduates in the intimate face-to-face ceremony at the UNC Sports Palace were Dr. Fay Lea Patria Lauraya, university president; Dr. Romeo Sumayo, Jr., vice president for academic affairs and dean of SGS; and Prof. Michel Basister, assistant dean of SGS.
