ICropS, UPLB READY BATINGAW take the lead in disaster preparedness

The Ornamental Crops Nursery (OCN) of the Institute of Crop Science (ICropS), College of Agriculture and Food Science (CAFS), has taken a proactive step toward disaster preparedness with the fabrication and installation of three (3) units of UPLB READY BATINGAW. 

Spearheaded by Dr. Norma S. Medina and Dr. Fernando C. Sanchez, Jr., the project began in October 2024 and culminated in the installation of the units in November 2024 across key locations in the OCN buildings.

Special Police Assistant Chief Jonathan D. Maliwat, the innovator behind the BATINGAW and his team acknowledged OCN’s initiative as a clear demonstration of UPLB’s unwavering commitment to promoting resilience and readiness. 

The Security and Safety Office, under the leadership of Atty. Eric Paul D. Peralta, commended the OCN-ICropS teams for their dedication to advancing campus safety and disaster preparedness. (Grizelda P. Marza)
