The FilipINNOVATION in Focus: Region III Investment Promotion Roadshow held on December 6, 2024, at the Royce Hotel in Clark, Pampanga, showcased locally developed biofertilizers from UPLB and herbal medicine technologies from UP Manila (UPM).  

The Philippine Board of Investments (DTI—BOI), UPLB, and UPM organized the event, which aimed to attract investors and stakeholders, promote sustainable practices, and support regional economic growth.

The program featured plenary discussions on Region III’s economic outlook, biofertilizer industry opportunities, and the market for Philippine herbal medicines. 

Highlights included presentations of innovative technologies such as UPLB’s Aquasave, presented by Dr. Milagros M. Peralta, and MykoPlus biofertilizers, presented by Dr. Jocelyn T. Zarate. UP Manila also showcased its herbal medicines, such as Ampalaya tablet, Ulasimang Bato tablet, Yerba Buena tablet, and Tsaang Gubat tablet and syrup.

Financing options and government incentives for technology commercialization were also discussed, as well as UPLB and UPM’s technology licensing process. 

This was followed by an Investment Clinic, which facilitated one-on-one consultations with stakeholders. 
The roadshow showed the importance of collaboration among government, research development institutions, and stakeholders in fostering innovation and sustainable development. (Therese Marie V. Disonglo)
