Playwright named UP Artist again
Layeta Bucoy, associate professor at the Department of Humanities-College of Arts and Sciences (DHUM-CAS), was reappointed as UP Artist II for 2018-2020 under the UP Arts Productivity System.
Bucoy has staged numerous plays at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, Dulaang UP, and UPLB and has also received a string of Palanca Awards for her writing. She was first awarded the UP Artist I title in 2013.
Joining Bucoy in the list is Arbeen Acuña, a BA Communication Arts graduate from UPLB and currently a faculty member at the Department of Filipino and Philippine Literature-College of Arts and Letters in UP Diliman. He was appointed UP Artist I for the first time.
The UP Board of Regents approved the latest batch of UP Artist appointments at its 1343rd meeting on March 28, 2019.
The UP Arts Productivity System was established in December 2008 to encourage outstanding productivity in the creative arts or in arts scholarship for national development. (Jessa Jael S. Arana)
