SSO conducts first comprehensive inspection and formation

The Security and Safety Office (SSO) held its first formation and inspection with
outsourced security agencies on Feb. 10, 2024. The activity is part of the
professionalization of the SSO.

Atty. Eric Paul D. Peralta, director of SSO, spearheaded the security inspection. In
a short message, he reminded the SSO personnel to sustain the administrative and
operational accomplishment of its units.

Chancellor Jose V. Camacho Jr. also attended the activity. He addressed the UPLB
security and safety personnel and expressed the University’s support in
strengthening campus security and safety.

Renee Johnson M. Melgar, security officer and supervising section chief of the
SSO Campus Watch and Investigation Unit (CWIU), reiterated the importance of
proper decorum and professionalism in the SSO mandate.

The SSO is the University’s first responder in case of crisis and emergencies. It is
in charge of ensuring safety, peace, and security on campus and is composed of
four operating units, namely, CWIU, Logistics and Administrative Unit (LASU),
Patrol Operations Unit (POU), and Crisis and Emergency Response Unit (CERU).
