SSO tackles safe evacuation guidelines for PWDs

The Security and Safety Office (SSO) of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs (OVCCA) headed by Director Eric Paul D. Peralta conducted a focus group discussion (FGD) on disaster preparedness strategies for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs), to ensure that their needs are met during emergencies.

The activity was held on July 05, 2024, at the Sunken Lobby 2 of the Student Union Building.

Special Police Assistant Chief Jonathan D. Maliwat, section chief of the SSO Crisis and Emergency Response Unit (CERU), and his team spearheaded the FGD workshop.

Fifteen participants from different units and colleges participated in the FGD. Its primary focus was to capture a comprehensive range of perspectives, ensuring that the proposed campus evacuation guidelines align with the needs of PWDs.

Last April 30, the SSO CERU met with officers of the National Council on Disability Affairs (NCDA) in Quezon City to discuss policies for the safe evacuation of PWDs.  (Alva Marie H. Tirones)
