SSO undergoes firearms and marksmanship training

Given the need to fully prepare for crises and have an agile response to emergencies such as active shooter/s on campus, the Security and Safety Office (SSO), under the supervision of Atty. Eric Paul D. Peralta attended a comprehensive session on firearms familiarization and actual marksmanship training at the firing range of the Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) at Camp General Mariano N. Castañeda in Silang, Cavite.

Police Major Robin James Bate, PNPA range officer, discussed the four cardinal rules of gun safety and the seven fundamentals of marksmanship using a pistol and rifle.

The training also aimed to capacitate the SSO personnel in the proper actions, responses, and procedures during an active shooter incident for a future-proof, secure, and safe UPLB.

This aligns with OC Memorandum No. 151 series of 2023 issued by Chancellor Jose V. Camacho Jr. on October 25, 2023, providing policy guidance on handling active shooter and shooting incidents. (Alva Marie H. Tirones)
