University Publications Office moves to Student Union Building

The University Publications Office (UPO) formally moved to its new office in Rooms 2 and 3 in the basement of the Student Union (SU) Building on May 4.

The UPO is a unit under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and is currently headed by Dr. Bella C. Cruzana from the College of Veterinary Medicine.

According to Adrian L. Reaño, administrative officer of UPO, since the main task of the office is to print journals, brochures, manuals, and other materials from UPLB constituents, their work became more effective and efficient in their new office space since the main office and staff, book store, and printing area are already in one location.

He said it was a big challenge for them before since the three components of the office were in three different areas in the university: the Animal Science compound (main office), Main Library (printing area), and the Student Union building basement (bookstore). He highlighted that their new location would ensure the safety of their staff, printing equipment, and printed materials.

The UPO is mandated to publish/print current and quality materials with substantial national and international circulation; enhance instructional, research and extension through production of printed materials; strengthen the linkages between the UPO and other units of the university through publications and printing activities; and professionalize and modernize the publishing sector of the university.

The UPO publishes the UPLB Journal, books authored by UPLB constituents, instructional materials for classroom purposes, and sundry materials requested by different units of the university. They also sell printed instructional materials and journals.

For inquiries and concerns about UPO’s services, they can be reached through their landline number at (049) 536-3603, their email address at [email protected] and their Facebook page. (Joshua Michael G. Jonas)
