On its 19th year, the UP ComBroadSoc Gandingan Awards will honor various national, local, and online media practitioners on April 26, 2025, at the DL Umali Hall in UPLB. 

The event, with the theme “Tagahabi ng Kasaysayan Para sa Bayan,” will recognize outstanding media practitioners who adhere to factual reporting and portrayal of events as they weave their stories and narratives of the past. 

The 19th Gandingan Awards is UP ComBroadSoc’s contribution to the efforts of concerned sectors to oppose the blatant distortion and erasure of history.

Since its establishment in 2007, the Gandingan Awards has remained the only student organization-led and university-based media awards in the Philippines. 

The program continues to recognize outstanding development-oriented programs, stations, and personalities that amplify discussions centered on national progress.

The Gandingan Awards entails a rigorous selection process from 200 media practitioners who were nominated for continuously highlighting in their content the significance of history in shaping national development.

The awarding program will also showcase the rich and vibrant art, culture, and history of the Philippines through performances by local talents such as Talahib People’s Music, Umalohokan, Inc., UPLB Street Jazz Dance Company, UPLB Filipiniana Dance Troupe, UPLB Talent Pool, and Music for the Environment and Nation Development (MEND).

UPCombroadSoc has partnered with Liga Para sa mga Lolang Pilipina (LILA Pilipina) in staging the Gandingan Awards 2025. LILA Pilipina is an organization of World War II victims of wartime military sexual slavery by the Japanese Imperial Army.
