UP PSAE holds webinar series to mark 5th founding anniversary

The UP Professional School for Agriculture and the Environment (UP PSAE) commemorated the fifth anniversary of its foundation day with a webinar series on “Promoting and Sustaining Agriculture and the Environment.”

The webinar series is open to all who are interested to participate.

The opening webinar held on Nov. 24 via virtual conferencing was entitled “The Role of UP PSAE in Enhancing Food and Environment Security in Mindanao.”

UP President Danilo L. Concepcion delivered the opening remarks, congratulating UP PSAE for filling the gaps in sustainable development in Mindanao and for remaining true to their goal of being a catalyst for development in the region. 

Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr., gave a presentation on “Future-Proofing Mindanao’s Agriculture and Environment through Inclusive Graduate Education” where he discussed the different initiatives that the public and private sectors have taken to contribute to the accomplishment of UP PSAE’s mandate. 

Ricardo F. Lagdameo, president of the ANFLO Group of Companies, discussed “Agri-Townships and Their Role in Sustainable Solutions for Continuing Education in Mindanao,” giving the audience updates on the different construction projects that are being carried out to develop agri-tourism in Mindanao. 

The ANFLO Group of Companies donated three hectares of land and also buildings and other facilities to UP. The property, which is located at Agriya, a master planned community developed by ANFLO in Panabo City in Davao, shall become the home of UP PSAE.

In his message to congratulate UP PSAE, Dr. Jomar F. Rabajante, dean of the UPLB Graduate School, expounded on the importance of democratizing science to regions outside the NCR and Calabarzon by means of offering quality graduate programs in the Visayas and in Mindanao. 

UP PSAE Director Rina T. De Luna gave the closing remarks, expressing gratitude for those who have been supporting this initiative of UP PSAE, in particular the Graduate School and the Office of Public Relations.
