UPLB welcomed visitors from Glenville State University (GSU) to the BM Gonzalez Hall on May 29 for the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to undertake academic and research partnership and a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for a  student exchange program.

UPLB was represented by Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr. and Prof. Rico Gazal and senior lecturer Jacob Petry represented GSU.

Prof. Gazal is an alumnus of UPLB, having completed his undergraduate (Certificate of Forestry ’90, BS Forestry ’93) and MS Forestry in 1998 in UPLB. 

GSU is a public university in West Virginia, USA. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs specializing in natural resources, such as energy and land management, land surveying, and wildlife management, to name a few. 

Four GSU students enrolled under their BS Natural Resource degree program were also present.

Witnessing the signing of the MOA and MOU were faculty members of the College of Forestry and Natural Resources (CFNR) led by Dean Marlo Mendoza. 

With him were Associate Dean Analyn Codilan, director of the Training Center for Tropical Resources and Ecosystems Sustainability Dr. Crusty Tino, and chair of the Department of Forest Biological Sciences Dr. Marilyn Combalicer. 

International Linkages Director Anna Floresca Firmalino also attended the MOU and MOA signing ceremony.

Part of the activities of GSU while in UPLB was collaborating with CFNR on the holding of an in-person seminar at the Nicolas P. Lansigan Auditorium on May 30. Seminar participants were given an orientation on the forestry landscape in West Virginia in the USA.  (Ana Vera G. Oleta)
