UPLB seals partnership with ADAMCO

UPLB formalized its partnership with Ada Manufacturing Corporation (ADAMCO) through a signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on July 12 at the REDREC Auditorium.

ADAMCO is one of the biggest agriculture machinery provider in the country and is also the exclusive distributor of Yanmar machines in the Philippines. Yanmar, through its Joint Venture with Ropali Corporation, appointed ADAMCO as its distributor of Yanmar machines in the Philippines.

The new partnership will facilitate joint research programs and technical consultations between UPLB and ADAMCO. It will also formalize academic collaborations in the form of internship programs for UPLB students.

In his speech, Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr. said that the partnership will contribute to UPLB’s desired institutional outcome of enhancing the quality of its education through internship and active engagement with the industry.

“It is important that we find reliable, credible, and reputable partner agencies that can give quality and competent internship experience. The kind of training that will help our students live up to UP’s timeless motto of honor and excellence,” he added.

Federico C. De Guzman, business development director of ADAMCO, spoke on behalf of their team and said that they looked forward to the innovations that UPLB can contribute through the internship, especially in agriculture and e-commerce.

Signing on behalf of UPLB were Chancellor Camacho; Dr. Agham C. Cuevas, dean of the College of Economics and Management; and Mar B. Cruz, chair of the Department of Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship.

ADAMCO was represented by De Guzman; Maritess B. Gallardo, chief finance and administrative officer; and Catherine C. Perez, corporate planning head.

The signing ceremony was graced by vice chancellors Roberto P. Cereno (community affairs), Dr. Fernando O. Paras, Jr. (planning and development), and Dr. Janette H. Malata-Silva (academic affairs).

The ceremony was also attended by 19 students of the BS Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship program. They are currently taking up their internship at ADAMCO where they gather experience in business development, finance, supply chain management, sales and aftersales services, and plant protection and nutrition enhancement.
