UPLB SSO conducts tourniquet training at LBNHS

The Security and Safety Office (SSO) headed by Atty. Eric Paul D. Peralta, represented by Special Police Assistant Chief Jonathan D. Maliwat, conducted a lecture and demonstration on using tourniquets to stop life-threatening bleeding at the Los Baños National High School (LBNHS).

The symposium with the theme, “SYMPOSIUM 2024: For Peace and Everyone’s Mind at Ease,” organized by LBNHS, was part of the school’s commitment to fostering a culture of safety and preparedness among their students.

SSO Maliwat shared invaluable insights on the importance of prompt and effective first aid, emphasizing the “stop-the-bleed” principle. He covered various topics, including the three Ps of first aid (preserve life, protect casualty, and promote recovery) and the ABCs of controlling bleeding (Alert, Bleeding, and Compress). He also demonstrated the proper application of a tourniquet and discussed its importance.

The event concluded with a certificate of appreciation presented to Maliwat, acknowledging his valuable contribution to the symposium.UPLB-SSO will continue to promote safety and well-being in the community through similar educational initiatives. (Kristine Bernadette T. Matalog)
