UPLB SSO holds disaster response activities on NDRM 2024

As a kick-off to the National Disaster Resilience Month 2024 (NDRM 2024), the Security and Safety Office (SSO) led a weeklong disaster response exhibit and workshop from July 01-05, 2024 at the Sunken Lobby 2 of the Student Union Building.

Gracing the program were Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr. and Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs Roberto P. Cereno. The observance of NDRM, as mandated by Executive Order 29 s.2017, shifts focus from disaster awareness-building to disaster resilience.

The SSO held a “GO BAG” video contest, a disaster seminar for international students, an exhibit of earthquake-caused structural collapse, a gamified training session, and a focus group discussion on preparations for handling persons with disabilities during disasters.

SSO’s Crisis and Emergency Response Unit (CERU) headed by Special Police Assistant Chief Jonathan D. Maliwat led the activities. Maliwat’s team is composed of Security Officer II Grizelda Penales-Marza, Special Police Lieutenants Kristine Bernadette T. Matalog and Pamela Mai R. Arquiza, Security Guard III Wilfredo M. Mulato, Jr., and Special Policeman Alva Marie H. Tirones.

SSO is headed by Director Eric Paul D. Peralta and is under the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Community Affairs. (Grizelda Penales-Marza)
