UPLB, through the Sustainability for Climate Action (S4CA) Committee, is seeking to unite the community in addressing the pressing challenges of climate change through awareness, collaboration, and collective action.

In partnership with the UPLB Interdisciplinary Life Cycle Assessment Laboratory (UPLB-ILCAL), the university is taking a significant step to fulfill its commitment to climate action by organizing the “Green UPLB: My Pledge as a Climate Warrior” on 20 Feb. 2025 at the Electrical Engineering Auditorium, Dante de Padua Hall, College of Engineering and Agro-industrial Technology, Pili Drive. 

The event aims to bring together university officials, faculty, REPS, staff, and students who will sign pledges as an act of commitment to this initiative as a testament to UPLB’s dedication to sustainable climate action and to building a low-carbon future.

Green UPLB is also a call to the community to actively participate in shaping a sustainable future and promote and incorporate low-carbon-related activities into its academic, research and extension, and public service projects and programs.

The UPLB Sustainability for Climate Action (S4CA) Committee was created on October 18, 2023, through the Office of the Chancellor Admin. Order No. 309 Series of 2023 to ensure that UPLB actively engages as a partner with the United Nations Net Zero Coalition and Race-to-Zero (R2Z).Professor Rex B. Demafelis, current CEAT dean and former chair of UPLB ILCAL, is also tasked to exemplify, share, and collaborate net-zero practices and committees to reduce UPLB’s environmental footprint.
