BIOTECH maintains ISO certification

The National Institute of Molecular Biology and Biotechnology (UPLB-BIOTECH) maintained its International Organization for Standardization (ISO) 9001:2015 certification with the issuance of a Certificate of Recognition by the Certification International Philippines, Inc. (CIP) on 18 June 2019.

Following the surveillance audit conducted at BIOTECH on May 27, 2019, CIP granted the certificate which recognizes the Institute as operating a management system that conforms to international quality management standards in biotechnological research, development, and extension related to agriculture, food, forestry, industry, environment, and energy; and its technical and laboratory services.

Dr. Marilyn B. Brown, BIOTECH director expressed gratitude to BIOTECH staff for their hard work in ensuring the continuous ISO compliance. She commended former director, Dr. Rosario G. Monsalud, for leading the ISO initiative and serving as BIOTECH’s quality manager. She said that maintaining the certification is proof of BIOTECH’s commitment to international quality standards in biotech research, development and extension, and public service delivery.

ISO is an international standard-setting body composed of representatives from various national standards organizations.
