UPLB hosts PPSCC basic level course

UPLB, in partnership with the Government Procurement Policy Board – Technical Support Office (GPPB-TSO), offered the Public Procurement Specialist Certification Course (Basic Level) in the University. The eight-day face-to-face program was conducted from July 04 to July 12, 2022, at the College of Economics and Management Function Hall (CEM FH), UPLB.

More than 70 participants from public and private institutions across the country have enrolled in the basic course.

In fact, State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) such UP Baguio, Catanduanes State University, Tarlac Agricultural University, Northern Bukidnon State College, UP Procurement Office, and our own UPLB personnel invested in the development of their human capital. Aside from SUCs, other local and national government institutions have joined the program. Private companies and individuals also enrolled in the PPSCC program in UPLB.

The certification program aims to provide a deeper understanding of the processes and procedures behind government procurement.

Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr. mentioned in his opening remarks the importance of being knowledgeable on government procurement. Responsibility and liability are crucial in determining the future of the University or institution in general.

Assistant to the Chancellor Eileen Lorena Mamino, who also serves as the chair of the Bids and Awards Committee Secretariat in the University, spearheads the training course. She is a level three certified public procurement specialist.

Dr. Mamino mentioned offering a second and third batch of PPSCC Level 1 before the year ends and will be followed by Levels 2 and 3 as well as refresher courses. (Ana Vera G. Oleta)
