Palarong UPLB is here!

UPLB athletes and sports enthusiasts will shine once again, as Palarong UPLB, the University-wide sports competition, starts on March 12. Its official launch and opening program will follow two days later, on March 14, at the Oblation Park.

This year’s Palaro host is the College of Forestry and Natural Resources (CFNR). The College has aligned its environmental conservation advocacy with the sports and wellness event as indicated in the crafted Palaro theme: “Kalakasan, Kalikasan, Kalusugan.”

CFNR has prepared a wide variety of sports events—including an obstacle race around the campus —where students, faculty, and staff from the different colleges and offices will be competing against each other in a bid to win the championship title.

The University colleges and units have been grouped into six teams for the competition. These are the Yellow Raptors, composed of CFNR, College of Human Ecology, and College of Veterinary Medicine; and the Red Griffins – College of Economics and Management, College of Development Communication, College of Public Affairs and Development, School of Environmental Science and Management, and the staff of the Graduate School.

The Blue Champs, Royal White and the Green Hunters, are each made up of UPLB’s three biggest colleges, the College of Arts and Sciences, College of Engineering and Agro-Industrial Technology, and the College of Agriculture and Food Science, respectively. UPLB’s administrative offices will also be joining the event as the Maroon Superiors.

Palarong UPLB, an annual activity that allows its constituents to bond through friendly competition and physical activities, will be held until March 16. (Jessa Jael S. Arana)
