LRC conducts GENE-ius ka talaga! genetics tutorial webinars

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) conducted the tutorial webinar series, “GENE-ius ka talaga!” on Dec. 6, 7, & 9 via virtual conferencing and Facebook live streaming.

Faculty member Emmanuel T. Galang at the Genetics and Molecular Biology Division of the Institute of Biological Sciences of the College of Arts and Sciences, UPLB, was the resource speaker for the 3-day tutorial, which saw 328 participants registered.

GENE-ius is part of LRC’s tutorial program, dubbed as TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More) Learning Sessions, a series of online tutorials designed to help students review for their examinations.

This series which focused on BIO 30 or Genetics, was designed for UPLB students enrolled in the course and other interested participants.

The first session, “CHROM-Awesome: Heredity and Chromosomal Principles,” was held on Dec. 5, focusing on the fundamentals of genetics and the chromosomal basis of heredity.

In the second session, “You’re My GENOTYPE: How Genes Function Within,” held on Dec. 6, the discussion focused on gene segregation and interaction, as well as the different functions of genes.

The third and last session, “Par-ALLELE Minds! Applications of Genetics in Different Fields of Study,” was held on Dec. 9.

It expounded on the different ways genetics is utilized, such as developmental genetics, population genetics, genetic engineering, and biotechnology.

The recording of the sessions may be viewed on LRC’s Facebook Page: https://www.facebook.com/uplblrc/videos.
