UPLB formalizes partnership with Romblon State U

UPLB signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Romblon State University (RSU) on June 14, adding them to the growing list of UPLB’s partner higher education institutions (HEIs).

RSU is composed of eight campuses distributed throughout the archipelagic province of Romblon in the MIMAROPA region. They are the sole state-owned university in Romblon and provide training and education in agriculture, forestry, fisheries, business, education, and engineering.

Chancellor Jose V. Camacho, Jr. and Dr. Merian P. Catajay-Mani, president of RSU, signed on behalf of their respective institutions.

In his message, Chancellor Camacho highlighted RSU and UPLB’s common core values of service and excellence. He lauded RSU’s efforts to further develop their engineering program by benchmarking at UPLB and expressed UPLB’s commitment to assist RSU in their endeavor.

Serving as witnesses to the MOU signing were Dr. Greg T. Pawilen, director of the Office for Institutional Development in Higher Education (OIDHE) and Dr. Rosanna Maria C. Amongo, dean of the College of Engineering and Agro-industrial Technology (CEAT).

Witnesses on behalf of MSU were Glenn Niño M. Sartillo, chief administrative officer, and Dr. Alfredo F. Fortu, Jr., dean of the College of Engineering and Technology.

The MOU signing ceremony was followed by the RSU delegation’s benchmarking tour at CEAT.

RSU is the 28th HEI to sign with UPLB since the establishment of OIDHE in September 2020. OIDHE is tasked with expanding UPLB’s partnerships with local HEIs and creating opportunities for collaboration and development. (Jessa Jael S. Arana)
