CATL participates in conference on open and innovative education

The UPLB Center for the Advancement of Teaching and Learning (CATL) participated in the conversation on remote learning and the use of LMS in difficult situations at the 2023 International Conference on Open and Innovative Education (ICOIE) held at the Hongkong Metropolitan University, Hongkong SAR on July 4–6, 2023.

Dr. Edmund G. Centeno, director of UPLB CATL, presented the paper “Evaluation of Canvas LMS: Remote Learning Experiences of Students during the Pandemic,” which delved into the effectiveness of the Canvas LMS in facilitating remote learning during the global crisis caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The paper was based on a study that examined the experiences and challenges faced by students in adapting to online learning platforms.

Beverly R. Pabro, university extension specialist, presented her paper on “Teaching in Cyberspace: Teachers’ Experiences in Using LMS as a Teaching and Learning Tool during the Pandemic.”

Her presentation highlighted the teachers’ experiences and unique obstacles encountered by educators during the sudden shift to remote teaching.

Pabro shared valuable insights on the effective use of LMS platforms to enhance the teaching and learning experience.

CATL’s participation is part of its efforts to explore innovative approaches in education and using technology to improve learning outcomes.
