History cluster to hold webinar on historical distortion, trolling

The History 1 (HIST 1) Cluster of the Department of Social Sciences (DSS), UPLB is inviting the public to attend the Webinar on Historical Distortion on Nov. 21 at 1-4 PM.

It will be streamed via Zoom and on the official Facebook Page of the UPLB-DSS.

This webinar is UPLB HIST 1 Cluster’s response to addressing the challenges of disinformation and the attacks against historical fact, the spread of false information on social media, and the use of digital technology in manipulating photographs and data to rewrite history.

Speakers will be Gloria Melencio, a senior lecturer at DSS; Francisco Jayme Guiang, a faculty member at the Department of History of UP Diliman; and Wensley Reyes, a faculty member at UP Manila’s DSS.

Aside from historical distortion and trolls on social media, they will talk about the pedagogy of learning and teaching in the time of disinformation.

Interested Zoom participants are encouraged to register on this link. (Ruben Jeffrey Asuncion)
