LRC and LB Toastmasters Club help individuals conquer fear of public speaking

The Los Baños Toastmasters Club (LBTMC) recently partnered with the UPLB Learning Resource Center (LRC) for a bi-monthly meeting titled “S.P.E.A.K: Mastering the Art of Public Speaking.”

These meetings aim to help attendees overcome their fear of public speaking and to improve their communication skills through a supportive and engaging environment where they would be able to learn to S.P.E.A.K.

S.P.E.A.K stands for speak with confidence, prepare with a purpose, engage your audience, articulate your ideas, and keep improving your communication skills.

LBTMC is a local chapter of Toastmasters International, a global organization focused on improving public speaking and leadership skills by providing a supportive and educational environment for individuals to hone and develop their communication and leadership skills.

LBTMC holds regular meetings to provide its members with opportunities to give speeches, receive feedback, and take on leadership roles in a supportive and constructive environment.

After holding virtual meetings for three years, LBTMC finally organized its first and second in-person meetings last March 20 and April 3, gathering 31 participants. This was made possible through the partnership with UPLB LRC.

Anyone interested in conquering the fear of public speaking and honing their communication skills can participate in these meetings, regardless of their experience or background.

The meetings occur every first and third Monday of the month at 6:30 pm on the first floor of the Student Union Building. Only pre-registered participants may attend the meeting.
