OSA awards outstanding students and organizations

The Office of Student Activities (OSA) recognized students and student organizations who displayed exemplary performance on June 30.

OSA gave the UPLB Natatanging Organisasyon (UNO) Award to recognize the most outstanding organization, and the UPLB Natatanging Iskolar ng Bayan (UNIK) for the most outstanding student. They also gave Seals of Excellence Awards in Leadership, Public Service, and Culture and Arts.

The awardees were selected based on their leadership and organizational development activities, community service, and promotion of culture and the arts.

This year’s UNO Award went to the UPLB Economics Society (ECONSOC), besting 12 other nominees. Ma. Katreena Bianca K. Katalbas, BA Philosophy, received the UNIK Award out of the 13 student nominees. She is a UPLB Sophia Circle and Sigma Alpha Sorority member and a former councilor of the University Student Council (USC).

ECONSOC also earned the Seal of Excellence in Leadership, together with the UP Agricultural and Applied Economics Circle.

The UP Agribusiness Society and Philobioscientia, The UPLB Life Sciences Society were awarded the Seal of Excellence in Public Service.

Katalbas was also the recipient of the Seal of Excellence in Culture and Arts alongside Ian Mhar Gabriel D. Aguila, BS Mathematics and Science Teaching, a member of UP Caballeros, Society of Agricultural and Rural Development Scholars, Philobioscientia, and UPLB Astronomical Society.

The Seal of Excellence in Leadership was awarded to Christian Jester M. Salayo, BS Agricultural Biosystems Engineering, a member of The Parliament: UPLB Debate Society; and Siegfred R. Severino, BS Agribusiness Management and Entrepreneurship, a member of the UP Agribusiness Society, and former USC Chairperson.

Receiving the Seal of Excellence in Public Service were Jerralson G. Paguio, BS Human Ecology, a member of Red Cross Youth of UPLB, UPLB Career Assistance Program, and the UP Society of Human Settlements Planners; and Ann Jullian D. Mendoza, BS Nutrition, a member of the Philippine Association of Nutrition Alpha Omega Chapter.

The awards were given in celebration of the 62nd founding anniversary of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs. (Maria Rowena Beatriz Q. Inzon)
