UPLB and Northern Samar forge partnership for human settlements planning

UPLB and the Provincial Government of Northern Samar have embarked on a collaborative partnership
aimed at enhancing human settlements planning in the province.

This partnership was formalized through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on January 23,
involving UPLB’s Department of Community and Environmental Resource Planning (DCERP) under the
College of Human Ecology (CHE) and the Northern Samar provincial government.

This initiative is part of the public service effort by UPLB, focusing on providing technical assistance for
sustainable human settlements planning in Northern Samar.

The program is designed to tackle housing, land use, and environmental sustainability challenges, with a
focus on disaster resilience and community development.

The MOA was signed by Chancellor Jose V. Camacho Jr. and CHE Dean Jennifer Marie Amparo on the
UPLB side, and Governor Edwin Marino Ongchuan representing Northern Samar.

DCERP faculty members witnessed the MOA signing. This agreement highlights UPLB’s commitment to
applying its academic and research expertise to real-world community needs, emphasizing the role of
educational institutions in societal development. (Ana Vera G. Oleta)
