UPRHS Class ’95 partners with Globe and Accenture to assist in remote learning
UP Rural High School (UPRHS ) Class ’95 has partnered with Globe Telecom and Accenture to help the school transition to remote learning as part of precautionary measures in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The batch project, dubbed Tulong KKK, has three components which aim to assist their alma mater with free internet connectivity through Tulong Konek, gadgets through Tulong Kompyuter, and wellness support through Tulong Kagalingan.
Class ‘95 has partnered with Globe Telecom and the UPRHS Alumni Association for Tulong Konek to provide 60 high school students with Globe EDUC 500 load up plan equivalent to 40GB data per month from October 2020 to February 2021. Tulong Konek also grants free access to Amber, a Globe-provided web-based SMS application. With this service, UPRHS is able to blast official announcements to and receive centralized messages from students, parents and teachers for the entire semester.
This partnership is part of Globe Telecom’s efforts to bridge teachers to information and technology that enable continuous learning in this time of crisis, promoting 21st century learning, and in improving resilience in education.
Under Tulong Kompyuter, Class ’95 facilitated Accenture’s donation of 40 units of Samsung tablets with Globe data load to UPRHS. These have been turned over to UPRHS through its principal, Dr. Gregorio Ardales, on Sept. 2 for the school to distribute to students who lack the necessary gadgets for online learning.
Accenture, through its Corporate Citizenship Program, also committed to provide 30 units of used but fully functional personal computer units for Ruralites along with a set of digital upskilling seminars for both students and teachers.
Before 2020 ends, Class ’95 members will offer mindfulness and emotional intelligence sessions for UPRHS students, teachers and staff.
Class’95 is the silver jubilarian at this year’s UPRHS homecoming. With the on-going pandemic, however, its members will host a virtual in lieu of a face-to-face celebration.
