SSO & CAS host special lecture on campus incident management

The Security and Safety Office (SSO) of UPLB, in partnership with the College of Arts and Sciences (CAS), hosted a seminar on the fundamentals of incident management in campus settings on February 19, 2024.

The event, attended by 78 faculty and staff, aimed to enhance knowledge regarding the different campus security and safety issues and to understand the basic concepts of incident command systems (ICS).

In the opening remarks, Atty. Eric Paul D. Peralta, director of the SSO, emphasized the ICS’s practical importance in crisis situations.

Dr. Maribel L. Dionisio-Sese, dean of UPLB CAS, set the tone for the seminar with encouraging remarks. She expressed her appreciation and commended the SSO and all the participants for the timely conduct of the activity.

The resource person, Jonathan D. Maliwat, special police assistant chief, discussed the various case studies on campus safety and the implementing guidelines of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council Memorandum No. 04 series of 2012 on using ICS.

Associate Dean Chrysline Margus N. Piñol expressed gratitude for the participants’ dedication, highlighting the significance of teamwork in executing incident management protocols. The seminar provided a valuable platform for knowledge exchange and collaboration, with insights aimed at strengthening campus resilience.
